Arsenal – Southampton: result, goals and match highlights

It was a good result for the Gunners with a 3-1 win over Southampton as part of England Premier League matchday 7 2024-2025. Southampton started the game on the back of Cameron Archer's goal in the ninth minute of the second half. The determination of Mikel Arteta's team was key to the victory and the celebrations at the end of the game. After 12 minutes of the second half, Arsenal equalised through Kai Havertz's shot and, 22 minutes into the second half, turned the game around with another shot from Gabriel Martinelli. The goal that made it 3-1 came from Bukayo Saka, when the player connected with the ball 42 minutes into the second half for a set piece goal.

Southampton had a chance to equalise, but Taylor Harwood-Bellis's shot hit the post.

Bukayo Saka put in a strong performance. Arsenal's attacker shone by scoring 1 goal, kicking 6 times and making 37 correct passes.

Kai Havertz also performed well. Arsenal's midfielder scored 1 goal, made 26 successful passes and was encouraged to kick 7 times.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta introduced a 4-3-3 formation with David Raya in goal; Thomas Partey, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães and Riccardo Calafiori in defence; Kai Havertz, Jorginho and Declan Rice in the middle; and Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling in attack.
